James "Jim" Haworth joins Lighting Science Group after having left a senior executive position with Philips as vice president of marketing and strategy. Jim has a strong background in general management, finance and marketing. His rise in the lighting industry began when he served concurrently as the president and CEO of JJI Lighting Group, overseeing its general management, operations, finance and manufacturing. Strategically selling JJI in 2006 to Genlyte Group, Haworth supervised the company's acquisition and implementation, only to continue his success when Genlyte was subsequently purchased by Philips in 2008. Jim is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a BBA from Loyola University of Chicago and a MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Business at Northwestern University. He is a member of several professional associations, including The Presidents Forum and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Leaving Chicago to make Florida his new home, Jim is being joined in this new venture with his wife and two daughters.
Greg is responsible for the management and direction of the company's finance and accounting organization. Greg joined Lighting Science after six years at HD Supply, one of the nation's largest distributors of construction supplies serving in various financial leadership roles including Corporate Controller and Chief Financial Officer for two business lines. Prior to Joining HD Supply, Greg served as Controller at Noresco, a national energy services company from 2001 to 2003. From 1996 to 2001, he served as Director of Internal Audit at Pitt-Des Moines, Inc., a multi-national engineering and construction provider. Greg began his career in finance at Deloitte & Touch LLP in Pittsburgh, PA. He is a CPA and a graduate of West Virginia University.
Fredric S. Maxik, has served as Chief Scientific Officer of Lighting Science Group Corporation since June 2004 and has served as a director of Lighting Science Group since August 2004. In 2002, Maxik formed an environmental products company, which developed the intellectual property that eventually became the principal asset of Lighting Science, Inc. that was acquired by in June 2004. From 1993 to 2002, Maxik formed and managed a product development firm. From 1990 to 1993, he served as vice president of product development for Onkyo Electronics in Osaka, Japan. He began his career with Sansui Electronics in 1983 in Tokyo, Japan where he became vice president of product development. Maxik graduated Bard College with a BA in Physics and Philosophy and received an honorary PhD in Physics from the University of Hong Kong in 1993.
David Henderson, Chief Development Officer, is responsible for developing and commercializing the global product portfolio including product life cycle management. David joined Lighting Science after seven years with Acuity Brands Lighting, Holophane Division in Newark, Ohio where he was the Director of Product Management and Engineering, responsible for the development, engineering and commercialization of new products. From 1997 to 2001, David was Engineering Manager at Thomas & Betts Corporation, Memphis, TN. David has also served as Product Development Engineer at Cooper Lighting and as Senior Designer at Philips Lighting DCO. David is based at the Lighting Science headquarters in Satellite Beach, Florida.
Before joining us, Mr. Russ was the Chief Operations Officer for StreetSmart Technology. He developed experience in the lighting industry as the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Guardian Networks, a remote asset management services company focused on street and area lighting that was acquired by Acuity Brands.
Peter Harteveld is VP and Managing Director of Lighting Science Group BV, responsible for Lighting Science activities in Europe, Middle East and Asia, based out of Goes, the Netherlands. Peter joined Lighting Science in June 2008, prior to which he has worked for 10 years for Philips Lighting in several international assignments. As Director of Program Management, Peter was responsible between 2000 and 2005 for innovation and product management of the Compact Fluorescent division for Philips Lighting based in Hong Kong. From 2005 till 2007, as Senior Director Consumer Lighting, he was responsible for sales of consumer lighting products in Scandinavia, based out of Copenhagen. From early 2007 until joining Lighting Science, Peter was involved in the acquisition of Partners in Lighting by Philips, and integration of their activities inside Philips and business development. Peter is based at the Lighting Science Group BV office in Goes, The Netherlands.
